Data Tales

A growing cache of graphs and infographics that spark intrigue, start conversations, and reveal sometimes surprising explanations of, and connections between, real-world phenomena. They can be used to introduce topics, segue into inquiry-based learning, and developing the skill of recognizing relationships and patterns revealed in data.

We include prompts to encourage students to approach observations and results with curiosity and critical thinking, challenge assumptions, and creatively develop ideas to explore further. We recommend displaying the graphs on a screen or white board and letting students develop and discuss their own conclusions and questions, and only then using the specific prompts and questions to guide exploration of the theme.
